Artist's Comments

Steel metal art created with hand cut pieces arranged in a fine art fashion and colored either with heat or steel patinas. Framed in metal or organic edges finish.

Daily Deviation

Given 2009-02-21

Iron Rhapsody by ~Iron-Rhapsody. Appaloosa Stallion, 36" x 44" (91.5cm x 111.5cm), which includes the mane that extends beyond the frame. The mane consists of over 60 pieces to make it look flowing in high relief. A special application of patina emulates the "mottled" patterns common to this breed. The suggester said this about this exciting piece of art: "I actually thought this was a hand-drawn deviation until I clicked it and realized it was made from metal. The mane is incredible! That must have taken some skill." (Suggested by =boribaby and Featured by `Kitten-of-Woe)

That is beautifull!:love:
It looks totally amazing;)

And because of the way it's made, the light falls so that the mane looks like it's actually moving:)

Three reasons why this work is better than good;

1.The patina is excellent and adds another sensual dimension to the work.
2. The fact that the mane is modeled in separate pieces making it essentially high relief gives a dramatic sense of movement and adds to the illusion of three dimensionality(it adds depth).
3. The subject exceeding the boundaries of the frame is an effective contrivance that adds to the sense of movement, but also lends a proximal imminence...

Wow,proximal imminence...did I really just say that? LOL
